I knocked this up in an hour or so on sunday evening. Yes, yes, I know I should have been finishing the (now infamous) 2011 calendar, but I couldn’t resist making it. My chum, Joy is a Gaelic singer, amongst a million other things and as well as turning up for her Glasgow date, I saw her final tour date in Cumbernauld at the weekend. Instead of celebrating the finale, she was working early the next day, so I made her this certificate as an award for her hard work. So well done, Joy! As for you, treat yourself to a wee listen at http://www.joydunlop.com/

busy busy week… in the midst of working on this calendar (that I insist does exist) and between working a couple of days a week for Hoover, and doing the Broken Pencils work, I drew a quick scribble. a friend came to stay and brought not one but two jars of jam that his mum made. I love jam. especially homemade pippy jam. I will start eating it tomorrow with great alacrity. here’s what I sent them to say thankyou.

for the past couple of days, I have been working on a creative writing anthology for a writers group called ‘broken pencils’. I’ve done the layout and accompanying illustrations and although it’s not my usual medium, I felt that using adobe illustrator might be a smart, neat choice. they were looking for some simple work along the broken pencils theme, so to show you I’ve put together a little selection of some of the drawings I included.

the one on the left with a border is for a full page. I used variations of it for spare pages as well as the front and back covers. the line at the bottom is for underlining titles of work and the others are little details for some of the larger spaces in the anthology. I hope you like them.

I’m still beavering away at the 2011 calendar – here’s one of the drawings that may make the final cut. I’m working on my phonetic alphabet (you may remember one version I did for a card recently). I decided to draw the entire alphabet properly this time. Now I’m just colouring in the other 24 letters. Here are my initials, R and C.

in a decidedly digital state of mind, I have gone ahead and hit facebook hard with general drawing silliness. take a wee looksee, just search for ‘Analogue Girl Illustration’. it is there for your delectation and delight – plus, it might be easier to keep up with me there if you don’t want to keep clicking back here all the time. I feel silly not putting up a picture too so here’s a quick sketch I did last night. I like the movement in it – it’s something I sometimes lose in pen work, but practice makes perfect…

the other day I helped a friend out by starring as a robber in a movie she was making. I decided to immortalise my creeping strut with a quick wee sketch. i liked it so much, I thought I’d let you see the rough draft. we discovered that I’m actually pretty good at overly dramatic comedy sneaking – so if you need a bit of that, you know where to come. a jack of all trades, that’s me.
