tiger tiger

Although I drew these tigers last year, I’ve only just managed to get them into the gallery. They were all part of a calendar I was commissioned to draw up for a Thai publisher – MAC Press. The brief; to include twelve Thai idioms related to tigers. Unbelievably there are far more than twelve! I chose the ones I liked most and brought them to life. This one was one of my favourites – the Tiger protects the forest as the forest is in turn protected by the Tiger, a mutual relationship.

They gave me a lot of freedom so I chose to colour them by hand – not my usual Photoshop filling in. I made sure there was a mix of round, silly faces and majestic fierceness throughout. I tried, anyway! My other favourite is the one with two Tigers, I thnk I was most pleased with it. Have a look in illustration page 2) and you’ll see all the Tiger drawings nestled together. Happy clicking!

happy anniversary

I drew this card up for some family friends on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.

Alright, so it isn’t terribly romantic, but it suits them remarkably well. She likes plants, he is indifferent, he likes playing with his Scalextric and well, he’s in his fifties. Need I say more? Let’s face it, since that’s what I had to work with, it came out alright! They laughed anyway.

If I could spend my time just doing silly cards to order, I almost believe I would.

super quick

I thought I might as well put this up seeing as someone, somewhere might have my purse and might have just found my business card… they might see the love in these little drawings. it’s a long shot, I know, but I’m putting these posters up later in the area where my bag came away from a (seemingly) secure position on the back of my bike.

I’d just like some of the things back, especially the bag. my mum and I made it with lining and inner pockets and a zip. I really loved it. anyway, enjoy the ten minute emergency poster and keep your fingers crossed that I might just get my things back – small reward! (I already went to the police, so this is an added extra effort on my part!)

roger, roger

Here’s a card design I drew up yesterday for my friend’s birthday. He taught me the NATO phonetic alphabet the other week so I wished him a happy birthday visually and phonetically… it’s complicated.

H for hotel, A for alpha, P and P for papa, Y for yankee. That was ‘happy’ spelled out. Then ‘birthday’; Bravo, India, Romeo, Tango, Hotel, Delta, Alpha, Yankee. Ta da! I might try to put the entire alphabet together soon.
